A DEXTA Story

Miscellaneous

This page will be dedicated to Power Steering Installation on my DEXTA
Waiting on a part. The kit has arrived, however when I went to install it the hydraulic cylinder cannot be mounted while I have the front-end loader mounted. Called the Vendor, and he is having the manufacturer build a part that will work with my loader, as I specifically asked whether this kit would work with loaders, and was told yes. Waiting for part.

Meanwhile, I have replaced both spindles, new spindle bushings, bearings, etc. Without a load, I can turn the steering wheel with a spinner knob.

The top pivot arm is removed and OEM steering is mounted back, waiting on my part.

New Spindle and the Kit Arm
This is the arm that will be replaced. The top arm will be lengthened to move the hydraulic cylinder closer to the engine. More on that later.

Remove the radius arm cap to install cylinder bracket
The bracket that holds the cylinder fits under the radius arm rear caps.

Rear Power Steering Cylinder Bracket Installed
The kit had metric bolts (grade 8.8) which were the wrong length. The correct bolts will come with the new spindle pivot arm.

Fault with KIT
I do not like this bracket. It interferes with the clutch.
Once I get the new arm and get my system working, more than likely I will modify this arm by cutting it and moving it forward about two inches, depending on cylinder rod adjustment length.
I believe it can go forward. We'll see.
